Retailers need to make room for new inventory
Come this time of year, it’s not so much about making money as it is about making room for new products for seasonal stores. The best way to do that is to heavily reduce their pricing, even as low as cost. This is something that will typically never happen at any other time of year other than now. The urgency to make room for this new stock is a top priority in fall!
Beat the rush
The summer air brings the most exciting time to investigate buying outdoor furniture, fire tables, and décor – most people are going to purchase their furniture this time of year. Although you will be able to take advantage of some pre-buy pricing and discounts you will have to deal with the logistics which at this time of year can be delayed due to the high demand for furniture. Buying even as early as May is still not quite ahead of the game. Retailers can and will start selling their pre-buys as early as February.
Showroom and Display Models
Lots of time and thought go into buying furniture to display. These sets are tools used to sell the collections so if you do not have that designer touch, buying a floor model for a great price might be just what you needed. Typically, all sold as-is, the cushion colors, toss pillows, and décor paired with the showroom model were all expertly chosen. The stigma behind display models is always “used” or “tainted” but in actuality retailers, especially seasonal retailers, need to have a high turnover of products in order to keep their clientele interested and coming back, therefore, that set hasn’t been on the floor for very long.
Discounted lines are announced to retailers
After the season has passed, suppliers will determine what collections sold better then others and may decide to remove them if they did not perform as expected. When that happens, retailers carrying the discontinued lines will want these items out of stock and out of mind, these are the best items to bargain and negotiate pricing with. You are more than likely able to get the deal you have been looking for.
Have it right away!
There is still some warmth to enjoy come August and September in our climate so why not get the best deal possible and still get to enjoy a little bit of summer to enjoy your furniture? Retailers may have lots of product in-stock that they want to get rid of this time so no need to worry about wait times.
Get a sneak peek
Chances are retailers will already have a list of new products by fall that they will be bringing in the following season. If you ask to see what may be new for next year, you might be able to snag some of these items before they even hit the showroom floor. By putting down a deposit they may hold this stock until you are ready in Spring. Not only missing the rush of “early bird” buyers but getting the first pick of products not yet introduced to the public!
